Victims of paedophilia in the Serbian Orthodox Church seek justice

Six victims of child abuse by the Christian Orthodox priests in Bosnia and Serbia have issued proceedings at the Queen’s Bench Division. Apart from the allegations of sexual abuse, they claim they have not been given access to justice and due process in their countries.  The Serbian Orthodox Church has a large and long-established presence in England but also dioceses in Europe, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand. It is alleged that the Serbian Orthodox clerics are frequently being transferred between different countries including the UK. Given the poor record of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian/Bosnian authorities in relation to identification and prosecution of paedophiles,  the victims claim that  they wish to raise awareness of the risk to the communities around the world.  This case has attracted considerable media attention by the local and regional papers and TV stations as well as the BBC, Deutsche Welle and Aljazeera.
